Our historic piano – the soul of the dining room – used to belong to the German royal family and was brought to Stannum when a museum in Germany sold up and all its antiques were auctioned off. Strauss, the famous German composer and conductor, was a former user of this piano. The original stool of the piano was an uninteresting bench, but the one we accommodate is actually about 100 years older than the piano itself. It is still adjustable but what is most remarkable is that it still has its original covering.
